500,000. I do say that because most consumers in the West spend 100,000 a year. But I’m not saying that they have to spend that much for luxury. They can put up with it.

In fact, according to a study from Crain’s, the average West consumer has spent a combined 6.5 million on the luxury car option last year. That’s a lot. But a lot of that doesn’t have to include taxes, which are the main cost of owning a car. So it’s a little like if a home was worth 500 million but you lived there for four months.

That’s not to say we should throw money at it because it can be cheaper than buying a home that’s 750,000. Some people simply want a much better value, something that has its own value as well. It’s more expensive, and that’s what people do.

This is the real challenge that is confronting us. Let’s stop spending that much money. The thing is, if we take away some of the tax benefits that are available to buyers in the luxury automobile market, we lose, as we would in the luxury car market. And I would argue more and more that if we have more tax credits to help the West consumer get started with the car program, as they now do, that would have an additional 4 billion a year, on average, for a West consumer’s purchasing power.

Now let us look at the cost of these taxes.

I think that if we really focus our attention and say we have to look at those issues, that we really can pay down the current 75 billion in state and local income taxes. That’s all there is to it and it’s a small number. Let’s pay some of that down and have the other people on the street doing the same thing. That will create jobs in the country and help to stimulate the economy.

That also means we are going to lose our tax dollars when I say that our government is now paying some of the taxes that we have. As the economy is growing, that means not paying our taxes. We have to make sure they don’t shift those money over to other people. You can’t be saving your tax dollars going to a place where you don’t have a job for four years and you don’t get health insurance. You have to pay it back.
