The British car maker’s flagship Prius, which came to market this week as part of its flagship line, is expected to be unveiled at the UK’s International Consumer Electronics Show, scheduled for later this year, at a time when Fiat Chrysler Automobiles remains struggling with a number of tough financial troubles.
The two-door Prius, due to launch next year and be based in Switzerland, has been on a one-stop shopping spree for some time, and recently faced a slew of setbacks, including a series of delays. The French automaker is now facing a number of major technical and legal wrangles. In addition, a new class of cars is set to start production in China and Japan later this year – which is expected to generate 1 billion in sales for the car company.
Ford CEO Mark Fields told the CNET UK audience last week he is looking for ways to accelerate the pace of the company’s production of the new car.

The new model offers a much cleaner car engine for a car that weighs only 11 pounds, Ford said.
The new model is expected to be available in 2015 and 2016, though it will be unveiled more frequently in the U.S., Germany and England – which is also home to several major car companies. The company is also expecting to unveil its 2018 hybrid, the Biae, in September.
The Prius will ship with an eight-speed manual, while the new Prius will be powered by a 1.2-liter V6 gasoline engine.
