The world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange was hacked on Friday, and the US government is warning customers of the impending danger to their financial safety.
The theft came as cryptocurrency exchanges were taking legal action against a government agency that controls the trading and ownership of virtual currencies, as well as banks that offer services to clients and other cryptocurrency exchanges. According to a Bloomberg report , the data was wiped off a unique cloud called Bitstamp , the government’s public-health program that has become an invaluable tool for tracking cybercriminals, and was subsequently compromised .

A copy of the document, obtained by Bloomberg, showed that a vast, unknown digital ledger was discovered in the cloud. The documents, which also indicated the presence of compromised data in the company’s cloud, contained a list of all the Bitcoin exchanges in the US, with the list also showing that these companies had been hacked by some federal government agency.
The documents from Bitstamp also contained a list of the bank’s customers the names of which were not disclosed by Bloomberg with a list of bank accounts being used by a fraudster named Jack.

Biting off a Bitstamp address was just a way of sending the data over the Internet, Bitstamee CEO Peter Wintrich told Bloomberg, explaining that the data was disclosed by both the FBI or any other government agency that doesn’t have the resources to go through the data. So this is not exactly that big a deal. It’s just something that you could find, from a different place, and you can look to an official government or regulatory agency or an international company to help you. That is something we’re working on.
When Bloomberg reported that the government’s investigation had been completed, it claimed that Bitstamp was still investigating. Based on the state of security at Bitstamp, Wintrich said . We believe the breach of this computer system is quite unique.

To date, we were able to locate, through appropriate precautions, at least six digital records related to the accounts at Bitstamp that we’ve identified through our extensive testing during this past month, said a spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), a system that is highly capable of identifying any compromised digital system that may be exposed to cybercriminals by any user.
A law enforcement representative also told Bloomberg that the investigation had been expanded to include
