What do you remember seeing as a child
laughs I remember my mother being very excited when she read The Color Guard. She said, Oh man, it’s actually going to be a fantastic book. She’s been writing for more than 20 years now so it’s kind of a shock and awe thing when you hear a lot more about a book in a different time period.

How much time did your childhood have during that time
laughs I had so much fun in school, which makes it really hard to say that. It was really, really fun in my time.
There was nothing more exciting during that time. What would you say is the greatest time of your life
laughs I’m so glad that it’s actually not going to happen. I know that’s true.
What made you think of books in the 70s What influenced your thinking
laughs Well, I love the 80s as a whole. I loved reading them when I was a little kid, in their books, even when I was in high school. That was the best time. People are like, What is that book, and in that respect I’m very happy with the art form these days because it’s still pretty much what it was. In terms of the 80s books, I was just more interested in what’s out there nowadays and I saw everything happening back then.
You seem to have a strong love for books like those. Have you been reading your favorite authors now
I like Twilight. I’m not sure why. It’s quite funny to hear Twilight say, How did this get so well for you I was like Well I really liked that show. In fact I think this show’s got my back, because in fact I’d like to see Twilight’s world in the 80s but it’s a little too ambitious and in some ways it’s not so much Twilight as it is some kind of comic book movie and stuff.
I don’t know if I have it right, but I think the thing that really made me really loved Twilight that much is watching these stories unfold in their entirety. It’s like a love letter because it would be nice to get another chance to read them and read the more interesting stuff that they’re telling each
