In a Pew Research Center poll conducted just over a month ago, only 8 percent favored Trump, but almost half (48 percent) disapproved of the way the national flag is flown. When it comes to other flags, the percentage is even higher. A recent Pew poll showed that 53 percent of Americans did not view the flag when flown in display situations, while 35 percent did. While the poll’s margin of error was close to 4 percent, it did point to the fact that the people most likely to turn out to vote in the first place are Democrats and independents.
A major reason that the American flag is such a big deal, though, is how it’s perceived by some. Americans are pretty happy with their country, said Christopher Pollack, director of the IPCS’s Center on National Affairs.
What we also have to consider is the extent of this sentiment towards the national flag’s presence.
