First of all the salary for a video editor is 1600 an hour. The same is true of the video editor who does most of the production.
However, even if the video editor gets half their salary as a professional video editing job, he will still be required to produce a total of 100 hours of production work. Since we can’t go back and calculate the amount he takes from the video editor’s hourly wage, the basic salary for his full working experience is probably about 15000 if you include time.
So what do you do with all of this money you earn You take it from other people.
What happens after you start doing some really amazing work for this kind of thing
Well, most people will be lucky in that they get paid at least that much. There are not that many people who work very hard for an amount less than that. For a first-time filmmaker and many aspiring video editors, I would say that there are some talented people who are also doing great work. It’s possible the job is good but it isn’t that rewarding. Maybe it’s just not for them and that’s their fault.
Will I ever see a video editor do anything else for free in the video world or will I take advantage of it
Some of the great things the video editor can do are get his name out there and make the world a whole lot nicer. The way he does it can be quite nice. But, in most cases, you need to be in a video editing position to do really amazing work. Sometimes it’s easier to just do that and look for talent or pay someone else to write and produce or put down a title for a project. Some of the more successful young film editors get paid for their work out of their own pocket, which is often not quite enough to go around. I’m not sure that all the money is actually going to go to pay this freelance video editor who does quite a lot in the production industry (laughs). It’s a real shame that most of the money I’m asking for is not going to go to any of these people.
Do you think that in the world of video editing, it’s hard to give up even one minute of your career on a project
Yes, of course. I do that because I love video editing and believe in its amazing potential. It’s something I have been doing for almost 20 years now and I’m happy to have it out of the way until
