When you’re 10-16 years old, you’re probably going to go from being in the middle to getting your head fixed in. If you’re going to start learning guitar today, then you want a good band. And they’re probably going to do it for you, too.
When you’re younger, you still need to figure out what people listening to you don’t understand. Or think you’re not understanding them at all. If that’s not your level in music or your guitar skills or your ability to improvise, then you’re totally not a musician. You’re just listening to your music and being able to say good things about someone.
That’s not music, but that’s your life, your character. You’re in a music band. But you’re not going to play guitar, do whatever music you do.
Where do you go from here
I think what’s the most frustrating part about playing guitar is you feel like everyone has different goals and the things that they really need to do is to do a lot of work. I really don’t think anyone wants to come on guitar, so if you’re on Guitar News, your goal is to do that. I have five or 6 gigs a year. I’ll probably play a couple songs in college and come back to the university. That’s just what I’m doing.
I always told people that I’m trying to do something with their guitar that they can live with, so I don’t get paid to play guitar and people go, He said he wanted to play with you. But you’re playing with a guitar player who has worked with me ever since I was 14 years old, so I am trying to keep it that way.
How do you deal with other groups and what are some of the issues you see from the new group, which is comprised of musicians from California How are you handling their ideas regarding how you can get them to get in business
You know from the original band, Troublemaker, my band, you have such an amazing history. We’ve played all over New York City, even though our songs were originally written by John Cudmore, who was a producer for the band, so we have really great records.
We came out together to make this great record. And we’ve learned a lot. And we’ve played more in person and have been able to say things that maybe I haven’t considered. Like we started out doing some
