I’m very curious about the use of dance as music production in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as the way music has changed. Some historians, like George Gascn, have argued that the use of dance as dance music was the biggest change that went in the post-industrial era (1970s, 1980s). Although I believe that there is a strong cultural consensus among academics and the media that art and music have changed as much as they ever had in a given period of time, to give one side a certain interpretation, it would be important to explain why the same kind of changes occurred to both genders. And it would be very hard to find any evidence that it has.

What do you think of the trend of the film industry, especially in the past few years

In terms of the history of the entertainment industries, there’s been a growing body of research out there, even in the major genres like theater and video games. In terms of the kind of work done, I don’t think that that is what people will pay attention to. It would be hard to be critical of or consider the whole of the entertainment sector if it’s very different. The biggest concern, and this is true with film, is just how bad things are going to be for a younger generation.

How would you characterize the current state of the music industry, and what do you think it’s able to offer to the younger generation

The music industry is extremely diverse and a little bit self-conscious about the way music should be heard. I think that’s a very important point. There is a lot of work that is being done to try and better understand what makes music great, and what helps it do that. I don’t like saying I’m against music, but it’s hard to say that the music industry is in a bad shape because it’s not.

What’s the trend for female rock stars in 2012

The music industry seems to have really been the last bastion of female musicians. I think that, for many of the female producers, this is an unfortunate thing. In the 1960s, music was pretty much the only thing that mattered. After the late ’60s and ’70s, women took over and became the majority, and the music industry was left in the dust. I don’t think it ever really left people.

The younger generation seems to believe that rock music shouldn’t do as well as it should but that it does so much
